Facebook Gets A Dislike Button – Not Really… – Elf Knows It [ARCHIVED]

It’s about that time of the year again, walls being plagued with posts from friends telling you how to get a dislike button on Facebook, but like all of these posts in the past – and more than likely the future, it’s a malicious scam.

How you get caught
How this scam is playing out is, you are told to click a link (given to you through a wall post) that brings you to a new page, once on this page you are giving some JavaScript code to place into your address bar. That is where the errr magic happens! This starts the typical chain of events that leads to your account being treated like some billboard at a champions league final!

How to prevent this?
Just use simple common sense, to-date Facebook have not released a dislike button, and chances are they won’t, one tip to remember also is Facebook will never advertise or let you know of new features through wall posts, they will let you know by e-mail and/or an alert on your home page.
