SEO Tip – Multiple Domains – Elf Knows It [ARCHIVED]
Quick tip on having multiple domains pointing to one server – it seriously harms your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Having multiple domains pointing to one server, all loading the same site, seriously makes you look bad in Google’s eyes, it’s simple really, your site should have unique content for Google to see it as a valuable resource to its users, when they see multiple domains all loading the same content, they aren’t to know that it’s actually the same person, to them it’s just replicating sites and causing a build-up for their search results, so they start to ignore you.
I’m speaking from experience!
I had a few domains lying around that where pointing nowhere, so I threw them in the direction of my current server, with plans to do something with them eventually, but they all pointed here to http://elfknowsit.com. Google noticed this straight away and my ratings for this site dropped, badly! So now it has created more work for me to get my ranking back.
So a quick tip to remember, if you have multiple domains, keep them separate and unique, don’t point them to the same space on your server, it’s not worth it!
Have you any experience with this? Do you have multiple domains pointing to the same site, is it performing well?? Let us know with a comment below.
