Hello My name is Aaron.
I have a question.
I had com surrogate has stopped working message.
So I tried the following procedure:
1.Press elevated command prompt with administrator privileges.
2.Type in regsvr32 %windir%/System32/vbscript.dll and press Enter.
3.The system will pop out a dialog message showing "DLL Register Server in C:Windows
System32/vbscript.dll has been successful".
4.Then go to Organize Menu, choose Folder and Search Option, then go to View tab. Check the Always show icons, never thumbnails item.

It did work but, I could not preview pictures in folders.
So I followed your method :

1. Open a Windows Explorer window.

2. Click on the Tools menu.

3. Click on Folder Options.

3. Click on the View tab.

4. Uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails.

5. Click OK.

It worked!
But now I have Com surrogate again.
Can you help me?

Hi Aaron,

I just did some looking on the net, and this error seems to be a pretty commong problem, here’s another step-by-step I found, different to the one you followed

1. Click on start . Right Click on Computer and Select Properties
2. Click Advanced System Settings located at top left corner
3. Under the Performance field click settings
4. Go to Data Execution Prevention Tab
5. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select
6. Click the Add.. button
7. Browse to C:Windowssystem32 and select dllhost.exe . Click ok when done
8. Restart your computer.

Hopefully this helps, if not, get back to me with a comment below and we can take it from there.
