Ciorcal – Ireland’s Online News Community – Elf Knows It [ARCHIVED]

Ciorcal has changed, I originally started Ciorcal as a service to create, host and maintain online newspapers for whoever wanted one. But it wasn’t really working out, the work load was starting to gather a real “snowball” effect. It just wasn’t ethical how it was panning out. So I decided it was time for a change. Ciorcal still offers an online newspaper of sorts. But, it is now one large community news service for Ireland, and the stories are created by you. As a member you submit your stories to your County/Section of choice for others to read. There is also a National section for national news. Upon request sections can be created in the online newspaper for you (so in ways I am keeping the same original aim of Ciorcal). But it will now be one large news service, rather than a network of smaller ones.

There is also a new community back bone to Ciorcal. As a member you can write your stories like mentioned earlier, but you also have a profile where you can share pictures, status updates, keep a friends list, keep a personal blog and more…!

The past few days have been busy, long hours, tiring days! But all worth it! I am delighted with how Ciorcal is coming along. As we speak the site is ready for users (yup thats you!) to register and start playing with things.

So what do we have now?

  • News publishing for 32 counties.
  • National news publishing.
  • Forums.
  • User profiles, with status updates, friends, fans, and more.. (go play and find out)
  • User blogs.

BETA

For now I will still class Ciorcal as being in BETA, this means that we are still growing, and it’s you the users that help us do that. So by registering and posting your feedback in the forums you are helping us.

Revenue Sharing

I’m not going to say too much about this, but to put in simply – In the coming weeks you will have the option of making off your work on the site….stay tuned!
